Biographies

Basic

Sheri McGuinn took many English and Drama classes in college. Both disciplines helped develop her dialogue and plotting, as well as preparing her for the collaborative effort required in producing any script or novel. Her undergraduate degree is in Psychology, which led to work as a probation officer and child protection caseworker and investigator. She later returned to school for her MS in Education, specializing in Learning and Behavior Disorders. She continued her studies to become certified as a Reading Specialist as well. She worked in rural, urban, and reservation schools. Tough teens were her specialty. Sheri established Durare Publishing in 2012 and completed a Masters in Administration with a professional writing emphasis in December 2014 while continuing with her creative works and travel adventures. She is a single mother of three adult children who are supportive of her adventures in writing, publishing, and travel.

What’s in the Works?

Summer Priorities:

RWA Conference: Many of my shorts and other work have a romantic thread. I’m going to the conference to learn more about writing romances and possibly pitch a few ideas. I’ll also look at publishing alternatives.

Peg’s Story: Revisions are complete and the manuscript has been sent to beta readers.

Personal: Traveling to visit family all over while my home’s on the market, and considering options.

Fall Priorities:

Peg’s Story: Format, choose publishers, launch it with an effective marketing plan.

Continue shepherd services for Suzanne Blaney as she prepares to publish a new art book.

Present Sierra Community College workshops on Self-Publishing Basics and Self-Publishing for Educators.
